# Data Retention Differences Between Single and Teams Plans

## What is data retention at Iconosquare?

Data retention refers to the duration for which your data is stored and accessible on Iconosquare. This includes metrics, reports, and any other analytical data generated from your social media profiles.  
How does data retention differ between the Single and Teams plans?

- **Single** Plan: The Single Plan offers data retention for up to 12 months. This means you can access and analyze data from the past year, but data older than 12 months will not be available.
- **Teams** Plan: The Teams Plan extends the data retention period to 24 months, allowing you to access and review data from the past two years. This extended period is beneficial for longer-term analyses and comparisons.
  
  ### **Why is there a cost associated with longer data retention?**
  
  Data retention is inherently resource-intensive, involving significant server space, maintenance, and security measures to manage and protect data effectively. The more data we store and the longer we store it, the higher the operational costs. To manage these costs while continuing to offer high-quality services, we structure our plans so that extended data retention is aligned with the higher-tier plan pricing. This approach helps us ensure sustainability and efficiency in our services.
