# The engagement rate is very high for some of my media. Why?

The engagement rate might be quite high for the first posts you published after joining Instagram.

The engagement rate is based on the number of likes, comments and saves received, divided by the number of followers at the time of the post, and the number of followers is generally lower when the first posts are published.

The lower the number of followers is, the higher the engagement rate will appear.
