Facebook Reach Metrics Changes — June 2026
Meta has announced upcoming changes to its API that will impact Facebook Reach metrics for all third-party platforms, including Iconosquare.
These changes are part of Meta’s effort to simplify reporting and standardize how content performance is measured across formats.
To ensure a smooth transition and maintain reporting continuity, Iconosquare will migrate to the new metrics on June 3, 2026, ahead of Meta’s official deprecation date of June 15, 2026.
This article explains what is changing in Iconosquare and how it may impact your Facebook analytics and reports.
In this article:
Why is Facebook changing these metrics?
Meta is updating its reporting system to simplify metrics across content types and align reporting around “views” rather than Reach measurements.
As part of this update, several legacy Reach metrics will be removed from the Facebook API.
Because these changes come directly from Meta, they impact all third-party analytics tools using Facebook’s APIs.
Which metrics in Iconosquare will be updated?
Meta is replacing legacy Facebook Reach metrics with new Viewer-based metrics available directly in Facebook.
The following metrics in Iconosquare will be updated:
- Total Reach
- Reach & Views history
- Post Reach
- Average Reach per Post
- Reach-based KPIs
These metrics will rely on Facebook’s Viewer data instead of the previous Reach metrics.
Which metrics will be removed?
Meta is permanently removing access to several Facebook Reach breakdown metrics, including:
- Organic Reach
- Paid Reach
- Viral Reach
- Non-viral Reach
As a result, Iconosquare will no longer be able to display Reach breakdowns for Facebook content.
The new Viewer metrics only provide a total unique viewer count and do not include paid, organic or viral segmentation.
Reach vs Viewers: what changes?
- Reach = number of accounts that saw your content at least once, based on Meta’s previous reporting system
- Viewers = number of Meta accounts that viewed your content at least once, based on Meta’s updated reporting system.
Meta is replacing Reach with Viewers to standardize reporting across all content types. This means Viewer-based data may differ from historical Reach values.
What will change in my Facebook analytics?
Starting June 3, 2026, Facebook Reach metrics in Iconosquare will be calculated using Meta’s new Viewer-based system.
As a result, you may notice differences in your Facebook analytics, including:
- Reach values may differ from previous reports, for the same time periods
- Historical comparisons may not match
- Reach-based KPIs will be recalculated
- Organic, Paid and Viral Reach breakdowns will no longer be available
These changes are due to Meta’s updated measurement system and affect all third-party analytics platforms.
Will historical data still be available?
Yes, partially.
Starting June 3, 2026, Iconosquare will use Facebook’s new Viewer metrics for all data from January 1, 2026 onward.
Historical Reach data collected before January 1, 2026 will remain available in Iconosquare.
However, Organic, Paid, Viral and Non-viral Reach breakdowns will no longer be available for any period of time.
If you would like to preserve historical Reach breakdown data, we recommend exporting your reports before June 3, 2026.
You can export your data directly from the Reports section in Iconosquare using XLS or PDF exports.
