Changes to Facebook Page Metrics on Iconosquare

Meta has announced updates to the Facebook Page Insights API, which will affect some of the metrics available in Iconosquare. These changes will take effect on November 15th, 2025.

Below you’ll find all the details about what’s changing, how this impacts your Iconosquare analytics, and what to expect moving forward.

- What is changing in the Facebook API?

On November 15th, 2025, Meta will deprecate two metrics in the Facebook API:

  • Impressions
  • Page Fans (Likes)

- New Metric: Views

The Impressions metric will be replaced by a new metric called Views.

This update aligns Facebook metrics with Instagram, which already uses Views as the main metric to measure content distribution.

What is changing in Iconosquare?

1. Impressions → Views

Iconosquare will continue collecting Impressions data until November 15th, 2025.

After that date, we’ll start tracking Views instead.

This ensures that your Facebook Page performance data remains consistent and up-to-date with Facebook’s latest definitions.

2. New Combined Metric: Views/Impressions

To make the transition smooth, we’re introducing a combined metric called Views/Impressions.

This metric will automatically merge both data types, so you won’t need to switch between Views and Impressions depending on your date range.

Example:

If you analyse data for the entire month of November 2025, the Views/Impressions metric will:

  • Display Impressions for posts published before November 15th, and
  • Display Views for posts published after November 15th.

3. Fans Metric Removed

The Fans (Page Likes) metric will be removed from Iconosquare.

Moving forward, Page Followers will be the primary metric to measure your audience growth on Facebook.

This aligns with Meta’s broader move away from Page Likes in favour of Followers.

How will this affect my reports and dashboards?

  • All historic Impressions data will remain available in your reports, but will be under the new name “Views/Impressions".
  • The new Views/Impressions metric will appear in relevant dashboards and exports.
  • Fans will no longer appear as a selectable metric in analytics or reports; use Followers instead.

No manual changes are required on your end — all updates will happen automatically.

When will these changes take effect?

The changes will take effect on November 15th, 2025.

From that date, Iconosquare will stop collecting Impressions and begin collecting Views.

Why is this change happening?

This update is driven by Meta’s modifications to the Facebook Page Insights API. Iconosquare is updating its metrics to stay fully aligned with Meta’s official definitions and data sources.
