What photo and video formats does Iconosquare accept?

Iconosquare supports automatic publishing to multiple social networks, each with its own technical requirements and limitations. This article provides a complete overview of media specifications for the following platforms:

Instagram

Images Specifications
  • Format: JPEG
  • File size: 8 MB maximum.
  • Aspect ratio: Must be within a 4:5 to 1.91:1 range
  • Minimum width: 320 (will be scaled up to the minimum if necessary)
  • Maximum width: 1440 (will be scaled down to the maximum if necessary)
  • Height: Varies, depending on width and aspect ratio
  • Color Space: sRGB. Images using other color spaces will have their color spaces converted to sRGB.
  • Carousels can have up to 10 total images, videos, or a mix of the two.


Reel Specifications
  • Container: MOV or MP4 (MPEG-4 Part 14), no edit lists, moov atom at the front of the file.
  • Audio codec: AAC, 48khz sample rate maximum, 1 or 2 channels (mono or stereo).
  • Video codec: HEVC or H264, progressive scan, closed GOP, 4:2:0 chroma subsampling.
  • Frame rate: 23-60 FPS.
  • Picture size:
    • Maximum columns (horizontal pixels): 1920
    • Required aspect ratio is between 0.01:1 and 10:1 but we recommend 9:16 to avoid cropping or blank space.
  • Video bitrate: VBR, 25Mbps maximum
  • Audio bitrate: 128kbps
  • Duration: 15 mins maximum, 3 seconds minimum
  • File size: 1GB maximum

 

Reels cover photo specifications
  • Format: JPEG
  • File size: 8MB maximum
  • Color Space: sRGB. Images that use other color spaces will be converted to sRGB.
  • Aspect ratio: We recommend 9:16 to avoid cropping or blank space. If the aspect ratio of the original image is not 9:16, we crop the image and use the middle most 9:16 rectangle as the cover photo for the reel. If you share a reel to your feed, we crop the image and use the middle most 1:1 square as the cover photo for your feed post.

 

Story Image Specifications
  • Format: JPEG
  • File size: 8 MB maximum.
  • Aspect ratio: We recommended 9:16 to avoid cropping or blank space
  • Color Space: sRGB. Images using other color spaces will have their color spaces converted to sRGB

Photo Specifications

  • Format: jpeg, bmp, png, gif and tiff.

  • Size: 4MB maximum (recommended). For png files, we recommend not exceeding 1MB or the image may appear pixelated.

 

Reels Specifications

  • Format: mp4

  • Aspect Ratio: 9 x 16

  • Resolution recommended: 1080 x 1920 pixels. Minimum is 540 x 960 pixels
  • Frame Rate: 24 to 60 frames per second
  • Duration: 3 to 90 seconds.
    A reel published as a story on a Facebook Page cannot exceed 60 seconds.

  • Video Settings:
    • Chroma subsampling 4:2:0
    • Closed GOP (2-5 seconds)
    • Compression – H.264, H.265 (VP9, AV1 are also supported)
    • Fixed frame rate
    • Progressive scan

  • Audio Settings:

    • Audio bitrate – 128kbs+

    • Channels – Stereo

    • Codec – AAC Low Complexity

    • Sample rate – 48kHz

Stories

Stories specifications are the same as the above, except that for a video, a video story can not exceed 60 seconds.

 

LinkedIn

Photo Specifications

  • Images with less than 36 152 320 pixels

  • Format: JPG, GIF and PNG

  • GIF format supports up to 250 frames

  • Between 2 and 20 images for multi-image posting

 

Video Specifications

  • Length: 3 seconds to 30 minutes

  • Size: Between 75kb and 500MB

  • Format: MP4

 

Document

  • File size: 100MB max and 300 pages.

  • Supporter file types: PPT, PPTX, DOC, DOCX, and PDF.

 

 

TikTok

Photo Specifications

  • Maximum resolution: 1080 x 1920 px or 1920 x 1080 px

  • Size: within 20 MB for each image

  • Format: JPG, JPEG or WebP

 

Video Specifications 

  • Audio-video content must be in MP4, MOV or WEBM

  • Maximum video size: 1 GB

  • Video duration: 3 seconds to 10 minutes

  • Minimum height and width: 360 pixels

  • Minimum frame rate must be 23 FPS

  • Maximum frame rate is 60 FPS

 

Caption limit: 2,200 characters, including a maximum of 30 mentions

 

 

Pinterest

Images
  • Format: .BMP, .JPEG, .PNG, .TIFF, .WEBP
  • Size: 20 Mo max
  • Title: 100 characters max
  • Caption: 800 characters max
Video
  • Format: MP4, M4V
  • Encoding: H.264 or H.265
  • Video length: Minimum 4 seconds, maximum 5 minutes

  • Aspect ratio: For full-bleed videos (or videos that take up the entire screen), we recommend using a 9:16 ratio or 1080x1920 pixel size. Other options include: 1:2, 2:3, 3:4, 4:5, or 1:1.

  • Title: 100 characters max
  • Caption: 800 characters max

 

 

X (formerly Twitter)

You may attach up to 4 photos, 1 animated GIF or 1 video in a Post.

  • Resolution:
    • 1280 × 720 (landscape)
    • 720 × 1280 (portrait)
    • 720 × 720 (square)
    • Subscribed users can upload 1080p videos with 1080p playback
  • Aspect ratio: 16:9 (landscape/portrait) or 1:1 (square)
  • Video bitrate: minimum 5,000 kbps
  • Audio codec: AAC LC
  • Audio bitrate: minimum 128 kbps

Advanced settings

  • Frame rate: up to 60 FPS
  • Dimensions: between 32 × 32 and 1280 × 1024
  • Size: 512 MB max
  • Duration: between 0.5 and 140 seconds
  • Aspect ratio: between 1:3 and 3:1
  • Pixel aspect ratio: 1:1
  • Pixel format: YUV 4:2:0

  • Encoding requirements:

    • Must not have open GOP

    • Must use progressive scan

  • Audio requirements:
    • Codec: AAC with Low Complexity profile (High-Efficiency AAC is not supported)
    • Channels: mono or stereo (no 5.1 or higher)

 

 

YouTube

Video Specifications
  • Format: .mp4, .mov, .webm, .avi, .wmv
  • Video codec: H.264, VP9 (standard YouTube-supported codecs)
  • Audio codec: AAC (recommended)

  • File size: Up to 256 GB (YouTube platform limit, not enforced at scheduler level)

     

  • Duration: Maximum 180 seconds (3 minutes). No strict minimum but at least 1 second recommended
  • Aspect ratio:
    • Shorts: 9:16 recommended.
    • Standard videos: typically 16:9
    • Other ratios are accepted but may affect rendering or distribution
  • Resolution: 1080 × 1920 (recommended). Lower resolutions are accepted but not recommended.
  • Frame rate: 24–60 FPS (recommended). Other frame rates may be transcoded
  • Scan type: Progressive recommended
Shorts Requirements

To be recognized and distributed as a Short:

  • Duration: 180 seconds maximum
  • Aspect ratio: 9:16 recommended
  • Resolution: 1080 x 1920 recommended (minimum ~720p)

Videos that do not follow these recommendations may still be published but may not be classified as Shorts.
